Board of Directors

Inwood Little League is governed by a Board of Directors. These are volunteers who hold a one-year term, voted for every autumn. To contact any member on the board, please email: inwoodbaseball@gmail.com.

Below are the members and brief descriptions of their duties.

President | Juan Carlos Brito

 As the chief administrator, the president selects and appoints managers, coaches, umpires and committees. As such, no person becomes a manager, coach, umpire or committee member without the approval of the president. However, all appointments are subject to final approval by the local league’s board of directors.

The president is the officer with whom Little League International maintains contact. The president also represents the league in the District organization.

Executive Vice President | Carlos Mojica

The executive vice president presides in the absence of the president, works with other officers and committee members, is ex-officio member of all committees, and carries out such duties and assignments as may be delegated by the president. Separate vice presidents may also be selected to oversee individual divisions within the league. If so, one vice president should be selected as the one to preside in the absence of the president.

A vice president may manage, coach or umpire, provided they do not serve on the protest committee.

Carlos is also a coach in the league, and he grew up playing in this league!


Vice President of Community Affairs | Alex Martinez

The Vice President of Community Affairs solicits and secures local sponsorship to support league operations. Collects and reviews sponsorship and fundraising opportunities. Organizes and implements approved league fundraising activities. Coordinates participation in fundraising activities. Maintains records of monies secured through sponsorship and fundraising initiatives.

Alex is a coach in the league.


Treasurer | Christine Osoria

The treasurer signs checks co-signed by another officer or director (or as directed by the local league’s constitution), dispenses league funds as approved by the board of directors, reports on the status of league funds, keeps local league books and financial records, prepares budgets, and assumes the responsibility for all local league finances.

Christine is a coach in the league.


Assistant Treasurer | Erick Morales

The assistant treasurer is responsible for all the duties of the Treasurer, and fills in when the treasurer is unavailable. This individual can also accept payments.

Erick is also a coach in the league.


Secretary | Elizabeth Healy 

The secretary maintains a register of members and directors; records the minutes of meetings; functions as a point person for the board; responds to emails; sends out notice of league, board, or committee meetings; issues membership cards; and maintains a record of league’s activities.

Elizabeth is a coach in the league.


Information Officer | Eric Vazquez

The information officer manages the league’s official website; manages the online registration process and ensures that league rosters are maintained; assigns administrative rights to league volunteers and teams; ensures that league news and scores are updated on a regular basis; collects, posts, and distributes important information on League activities including direct dissemination of fund-raising and sponsor activities to Little League International, district, public, league members and media; serves as primary contact person for Little League regarding optimizing use of the Internet for league administration and for distributing information to league members and to Little League International; and displays enthusiasm for using the Internet for league administration, for sharing information, and for creating a more enjoyable and efficient Little League experience.

The Director of Marketing and Communications leads Inwood’s Little League marketing and communication efforts (league-wide, Baseball & Softball). This position is tasked to enhance the league’s visibility and ensure effective communication across all platforms. This individual may spearhead rebranding efforts, oversee website redesign, and drive all social media initiatives to keep our community informed and engaged.

Key Responsibilities:
● Develop and execute a strategic marketing plan to promote Inwood Little League’s programs, and initiatives.
● Create and distribute compelling content across various platforms, including social media, newsletters, and press releases.
● Manage and maintain communication channels before, during, and after each season.
● Ensure timely and effective communication with parents, coaches, players, and volunteers.
● Lead necessary rebranding efforts to refresh and modernize our image.
● Oversee necessary redesigns of our website to improve user experience, functionality, and engagement.
● Work closely with web developers and content creators to ensure the website meets the needs of our community.
● Regularly update the website with current information, news, and events.
● Lead and manage all social media efforts to enhance our online presence and community engagement.
● Create and curate engaging content for social media platforms.
● Monitor social media channels, respond to inquiries, and engage with followers to build a strong online community.


Player Agent | Juan Moreiras

The Player Agent coordinates the travel and tournament teams for the league. The Player Agent researches and informs managers about tournaments and travel team opportunities, handles the tournament registration process and oversees the collection and submission of required player information.

Registration Director | Miriam Tejada

This position is responsible for the administration of Local League registrations and will report directly to the President. They must set up and administer the registration program, including establishing dates and securing locations for registration, including online registration. The Director finalizes registration documents (registration forms, medical forms) and ensuring that adequate numbers of forms are available at each registration. Working with League Members, the director coordinates the waitlist to incorporate late registrations. The director works with the Treasurer to process late registration fees, including late fees. The director must compile registrations into master lists for each league or division, making master lists available to the Player Agent prior to evaluation dates and takes into account special needs of players. The director produces a master roster with supporting contact information for each Manager in each league. They prepare and finalize the League Master Player roster for signature by the League President and submission of the Master League Roster to Little League Headquarters prior to the start of the season.

Equipment Manager | Ricardo Tapia

Ricardo Tapia

Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all player equipment. Coordinates with the Commissioners to receive all equipment bags back from the managers at the end of the season. Cleans equipment bags and equipment. Maintains an inventory of all equipment in each bag to ensure that all equipment is returned and that equipment which has exceeded its life expectancy is replaced. Inspects all equipment, removes and replaces damaged, worn, or unsafe equipment. Orders all new equipment. Maintains inventory of reserve equipment. Prepares all equipment bags for distribution each new season. Coordinates with the Commissioners to make sure that all equipment bags are distributed to managers by/on draft day for each league.

Responsible for ordering and distributing all uniforms for players and managers, including the regular season, all-stars and other post-season teams. Coordinates with the Vice President of Community Affairs to ensure correct team colors and sponsorship logos are used.

Safety Officer | Justin Ashley

The Safety Officer is responsible for creating awareness and educating the league on the opportunities to provide a safer environment for children and all participants of the league.

The Safety Officer will prepare a safety plan each year for the league and make sure that the plan is used. Promoting compliance of safety procedures is a key component of the Safety Officer’s duties. This is done by establishing and promoting a culture of safety within the league.

Field 6 Maintenance | Raphael Victorino

Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of Field 6 in Inwood Park. Schedules spring cleanup, fall cleanup and any other workdays that may be necessary. Coordinates with the Safety Officer to address all critical safety issues identified in the ASAP in a timely manner. Creates, updates, and maintains a complete inventory of all field 6 equipment.

Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the upper fields of Inwood Park. Schedules spring cleanup, fall cleanup, and any other workdays that may be necessary. Coordinates with the Safety Officer to address all critical safety issues identified in the ASAP in a timely manner. Creates, updates, and maintains a complete inventory of all upper-field equipment.


LEAGUE COMMISSIONERS

Head Commissioner | John Lanning

The head commissioner oversees the conduct, management, schedules, and coaching of all the leagues. Assists the league managers in organizing teams and schedules, and resolving disputes.

The coaching coordinator represents coaches and managers in the league. The coaching coordinator helps prepare coaches and managers for their responsibilities. Organizing clinics for coaches and managers to attend, the coordinator gives coaches and managers assistance with practice planning, gameday requirements, and general questions about being a volunteer in the league.

Seniors Commissioner | Ewart “Sonny” Bowie

The Seniors League is for players ages 15-16. The Seniors commissioner must enforce the policies and procedures contained in the Little League Rules Book and Local Rules document for the Seniors Division. Act as liaison between league parents/coaches/ managers and the Board of Directors. Resolve conflicts among all league participants including conflicts arising during the games, as requested by the home-plate umpire. Communicate league information, including weekly posting of standings. Review the game results and pitching statistics and coordinate game cancellations and re-schedules.

Sonny is also a coach in the league.


Majors Commissioner | Kelvin Cordero

The Majors League is for players ages 11-12. The Majors commissioner must enforce the policies and procedures contained in the Little League Rules Book and Local Rules document for the Majors Division. Act as liaison between league parents/coaches/ managers and the Board of Directors. Resolve conflicts among all league participants including conflicts arising during the games, as requested by the home-plate umpire. Communicate league information, including weekly posting of standings. Review the game results and pitching statistics and coordinate game cancellations and re-schedules.

Minors Commissioner | Angel Boneta

The Minors League is for players ages 9-11. The Minors commissioner must enforce the policies and procedures contained in the Little League Rules Book and Local Rules document for the Minors Division. Act as liaison between league parents/coaches/managers and the Board of Directors. Resolve conflicts among all league participants including conflicts arising during the games, as requested by the home-plate umpire. Communicate league information, including weekly posting of standings. Review the game results and pitching statistics and coordinate game cancellations and re-schedules.

Farms Director | Johnnael Colon

The Farms League is for players ages 4-9 and consists of Rookies, Superstars and Farms divisions. The Farms director forms the teams and recruits the managers and coaches for the divisions. Acts as liaison between league parents/coaches/managers and the Board of Directors. Resolves conflicts among all league participants including conflicts arising during the games. Communicates league information, including weekly posting of standings. Coordinates game cancellations and re-schedules.

Assistant Farms Director (Ages 4-9) | Glenn Gahrman

The Assistant Farms Director helps the Farms Director manage the Rookies, Superstars and Farms divisions. Along with the Farms Director, the assistant director forms the teams and recruits the managers and coaches for the divisions. Act as liaison between league parents/coaches/managers and the Board of Directors. Resolve conflicts among all league participants including conflicts arising during the games. Communicate league information, including weekly posting of standings. Coordinate game cancellations and re-schedules.

Glenn is a coach in the league.


Director of Softball | Juan Cruz

Girls Softball has multiple divisions for players ages 8–18. The director oversees divisions and teams, and recruits the managers and coaches for the divisions. The director also coordinates with other city-wide leagues and arranges division schedules that include inter-league games around the city. They act as a liaison between league parents/coaches/managers and the Board of Directors. Resolves conflicts among all league participants including conflicts arising during the games. Communicates league information, including weekly posting of standings. Coordinates game cancellations and re-schedules.

Assistant Director of Softball | Yoby De Jesus

The Assistant Director fills in for the director when and where needed. And chiefly oversees the 10U and 12U divisions.

Softball Majors Commissioner (12U) | Maggie Mead

This individual communicates with Inwood coaches about schedule, field locations, umpires attending, rules of league. Attends and monitors games. Updates schedules, player issues, coach issues, parent issues to Softball Director. Sends Social Media content from respective teams to the Marketing Director. This individual may also communicate with outside league commissioner/coaches about rules and schedule, field locations. Logs all scores for local and outside leagues and shares with Inwood LL Information Officer.

Maggie is a coach in the league.


Coaching Coordinator: Baseball | Matt Mead

This position represents baseball coaches/managers in the league. Support coaches with resources, including mini-clinics as necessary for managers and coaches. Presents a coach/manager training budget to the board. Gain the support and funds necessary to implement a league-wide coaching training program. Order and distribute training materials to coaches and managers. Serve as the contact person for Little League and its manager-coach education program for the league. Participates and assists in all League seasons and events, such as dinners, registration, and parades.

This position represents softball coaches/managers in the league. Support coaches with resources, including mini-clinics as necessary for managers and coaches. Presents a coach/manager training budget to the board. Gain the support and funds necessary to implement a league-wide coaching training program. Order and distribute training materials to coaches and managers. Serve as the contact person for Little League and its manager-coach education program for the league. Participates and assists in all League seasons and events, such as dinners, registration, and parades.


FUNDRAISING

President of Ladies Auxiliary | Melissa Colon

Responsible for the coordinating, planning and directing of all fund-raising activities. Coordinates with the Treasurer to make sure that all funds are secured. Coordinates with all other board members, league commissioners, managers, on all fund raising activities. The Fund Raising Coordinator shall oversee the activities of the Ladies Auxiliary Assistant.
