Travel Teams

Every year, youth baseball organizations Little League and Babe Ruth League hold tournaments in July which lead to their “World Series.” Teams from around the US and internationally compete in local tournaments in which winners advance to regional and state wide tournaments.

Inwood Little league is chartered with both Little League and Babe Ruth League and thereby can participate in both tournaments.

The initial games are played in fields throughout the five boroughs. If a team advances, they may have to travel out of state. Parents and coaches must make their own travel arrangements.

Inwood tries to field a team for every age group. However, we don’t always have enough coaches or kids to complete a team in each division. Players “tryout” and the coaches pick the players to be on the team. Teams consist of 12-15 players.

The costs for the kids is generally free unless the team decides to order a low cost uniform ($15-20 for a shirt and hat per player).

Players who are selected to play in the Tournament must be committed to compete in all Tournament games starting early July until August or until the team is eliminated from its bracket, whichever comes first.
